I started running when i was in 3rd grade… 8 min mile time.
I was a mile runner all the way through.
If I learned anything in my time. It was not about how hard you train, or genetics, or what altitude you train at…. It was and is the amount of punishment you put yourself through to reach your goal.
HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT? It is a test of your will power. When you are running, and you feel like you just can not keep going. do you give up, or keep going? When you experience that and just never give up, you are a true runner. The stubborn streak to just keep at it. You can see it a little bit in these twins.
The other thing I learned, though many may disagree, It is better to have a fast pace, then a kick at the end. Your pace will eradicate the kick from your competition.

It's not genetics?!? Great! Look for Inuit and sumo wrestlers to start sprinting by those spindly Kenyans at the 8000 meter mark, once they've upgraded their training methods.

Kenyans are best, but Ethiopians are the legends in taking the long distance running to a whole another level. They introduced Africa to the world of athletics, and the world to legends. From abeba bekila running bare foot on the coblestones of rome until now. Every respect to what the kenyan's for what they are achieving recently, not here to defend ethiopians tho, legends don't need defending on the comment section.
